Our School Council is made up of Year 6 pupils who were elected for the position by the other pupils. They meet regularly with our Headteacher and work on projects around school and also make sure that pupil voice is heard.
Pupil Voice
The children in each class post their ideas for school improvement in a giant Lego head. The School Council are then responsible for collecting in the responses and presenting them to our Headteacher when they meet.
Play Charter
This year, the School Council have worked with Mrs Binks to develop a Play Charter to be adopted by the whole school. This is to ensure that children can enjoy their play times but also be safe and happy. They researched play charters from other schools and talked at length about what they thought the most important things should be to include. They settled on the final key points and wrote the charter together. You can find a copy of it here. Play Charter
Home / School Agreement
As a school, it was agreed that we would have a Home / School agreement to help us all to be happy and safe and to be able to learn effectively. Mrs Binks wrote the agreement and has asked the staff what they think about it but also wanted to know what the children thought of it before the final version was agreed. The agreement was shared with the School Council and they had some really thoughtful insights which will be implemented in the final agreement.
“I’m glad that parking is included because sometimes parents park on the white and yellow lines and it’s not safe.”
“Does it say in the parent section about providing healthy packed lunches? Can we add that?”
“Uniform is expensive, does it have to have the school logo on it as long as it’s the right colours?”
“Can we make it clear that parents don’t have to provide pencil cases and by equipment we mean reading books, water bottles and PE kit?”
