Reception Class Welcome Letter September 2022
Early Years Visit to Panda Panda
What an absolutely fabulous finale to our Chinese New Year celebrations this year! The year of the tiger celebrations of 2022 ended with a favourite trip of ours to Panda Panda restaurant. Thank you so much to Sharon for opening especially for us, and for all the effort you, Emily and your chefs went to in order to make our children feel so special.
The food, as always, was delicious and the children were treated to amazing service and a wonderful variety of foods to try. It was so lovely that you and Emily chatted to all of our children and made them feel so welcome.
We can’t thank you enough for this afternoon and we hope to visit again next year.

A huge thank you to the Early Years Children and their families for their fantastic donations to the Angel Trust’s Reindeer Run. You raised a staggering £1200 plus £147 in gift aid.

Early Years Prayer Space
We were fortunate to have Alison from St Anne’s Church join us on Thursday morning for some Prayer Space activities. We explored the theme of Remembrance and Peace with the children from Nursery and Reception. The children heard about why we have the poppy as a symbol to remember and then took part in lots of poppy bridges with big blocks, made poppies out of play dough and rice and had lots of fun.
Early Years Remembrance
The week before half-term, in the lead up to Remembrance Day 2021 we were invited to create artwork to display in the local shopping centre to honour the service and sacrifice of all those who have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.
Our children are the youngest children in school being only 3 to 5 years old but show great understanding and empathy when talking about Remembrance. We use the book ‘Where The Poppies Now Grow’, Hilary Robinson & Martin Impey, to illustrate childhood in the time of war. The story, set during the First World War, takes readers on a journey of friendship as Ben and Ray find their childhood games become real as the Great War rages around them. The story ends in a time of peace with Ben and Ray as old men, war veterans in a place where the poppies now grow.
Each child used their chosen media and tools to design and create a variety of poppies, resulting in each one being different and unique. The poppies are presented in The Newgate Centre on The Forces Support window and will remain there until after the 11th November.
Our children have created amazing artwork and were delighted to see the end result on our IWB. The eight Nursery and Reception children who joined us at the unveiling were a credit to their parents and to St Anne’s, they were polite, enthusiastic and very well behaved making us feel very proud.
Harvest celebrations
Today we started our Harvest celebrations with a class Worship.
We always light a candle at the beginning of Worship to show that Jesus is with us and is the Light of the World. We had a heart to share our love for each other and to remind us that God loves each and every one of us, pumpkins to represent Harvest, a plant to represent growth and what the world has to offer, an autumn leaf, collected by one of our children, to represent change and a prayer bear to help us when we prayed. We watched a short clip to learn about Harvest, then thought about our favourite foods.
We thanked God for our favourite foods with a prayer and learned the Harvest Samba. One of our children blew out the candle to show that Worship had ended.
The children were calm, peaceful and demonstrated wonder and interest. Well done boys and girls.
